| Bolstered by her third place finish in the girls' division of last week's Westfield Junior PGA Championship, Jenny Suh, 15, of Fairfax has been selected to participate on the 12-member U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team
that will compete in the Junior Ryder Cup Matches, September. 25-26 in Ireland. The selection was announced at the conclusion of last week's Westfield Junior PGA Championship in Westfield Center, Ohio. Suh is the reigning Virginia State Golf Association Junior Girls' champion
and the 2000 VSGA Women's Division Junior Golfer of the Year. |

| Mandy Beamer captured the 76th VSGA Women's Division State Amateur Championship at the 5,703-yard, par 72 Boonsboro Country Club near Lynchburg.
Matching dominating length off the tee with soft, precision short shots around the putting surface, the 22-year-old Burkeville native defeated Sherry Bowman (Manassas), 2 & 1 to win the championship flight. |

| Noel McKenzie has been named the Marketing Manager of Independence Golf Club, a facility that will feature an 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole "Kids Course." Slated for a mid-September opening, Independence will also offer patrons a driving range, practice facility,
teaching center, and a clubhouse that will house golf operations, offices, the education center and the Museum of Virginia golf history. Independence Golf Club is the culmination of 15 years of planning by the Virginia State Golf Association Foundation. |
| VSGA ANNOUNCES ONE-DAY TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE |

| The Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) has announced its 2001 schedule of one-day tournaments. These popular events are open to all VSGA players with a USGA handicap, and $40 covers greens fees, carts, prizes and refreshments. The senior age has been dropped to 50, and a new
Mid-Am division will be available at a number of “Dual” events. Among the new courses on the schedule is Independence Golf Club, the VSGA’s new Tom Fazio course in Richmond, set to open in the fall. Other top newcomers include Hermitage CC, Two Rivers CC, Nanesmond River, Kiskiack and Heron’s Ridge. Play also returns to favorites such as Kingsmill, Wintergreen, Water’s Edge, The Golden Eagle and Chatmoss. |
